2015 solo exhibition 「George & Mary」

「Never mind we are in different emotions, they come and go anyway.」 Various emotions appear between people because of the interaction. The outside part have the same interaction, but inside are totally different, people have their own drama.

「George & Mary 」 represent you and me, it also mean struggle and beauty in chinese language, presenting the interaction between people is struggle and also very beautiful. Characters in the paintings stick together, combined into patterns, symbolize the interactions generated different emotions.We don't need to be forced by others feelings, it would be better to accept those struggles. Never mind we are in different emotions, they come and go anyway.

september 5, 2015, so grateful and happy to finally open my first solo exhibition, it was really a beautiful day, just exactly the same like I imagine in my hole life. The course of creation is always difficult, i spend time feel it and look into my mind, all the works meant lots to me.

Thanks for every person who had help me or stand by me in this journey, looking forward to 2016's solo exhibition.

「在糾結中美麗，在美麗中糾結。」 藝術家黃昱佳細膩感受人與人之間的互動狀態與情緒，這次展出以Goddesses、George and Mary、Finger cross 、Mike四個系列作為展覽主軸，在她的作品中可見許多植物與小人們姿態各異、表情淡漠或帶點哀傷。展覽名稱取為Goerge and Mary兩個人名，代表著個體與個體，如同你和我、我和你，集合起來便可成為一個整體、甚而擴展為一個社會的縮影。 人活著，就無法避免與他人有所互動。人與人相處，需顧及對方感受、壓抑內心的情緒，無論或多或少、親近或疏遠，在生活中人們因隱藏真實感受而不自由著，但這些互動卻也給予歸屬感。互動中，交錯著溫暖與不自由，如此矛盾的關係黃昱佳以George 及Mary的諧音「糾結的美麗」去詮釋人與人相處時的內心小劇場，時時糾結，卻也時時美麗。 以下為大家簡略介紹系列作品中形體的代表：George and Mary系列中如麥穗的植物為水蘊草簡化而來，水蘊草是水族缸中常的水草，有效增加水中含氧量讓魚蝦不至於缺氧，在畫面代表著人對於互動的需求如同依賴著氧氣一般、也同樣代表著互動無所不在。與George and Mary系列小人物短小四肢長得不大一樣的Goddesses系列，人物雙眼無神四肢扭曲，意味著人受到社會約束與牽制不得不變形，改變的可能是自己的初衷或是價值觀、以及選擇的方向，呈現出人們因社會框架而曲折的無奈狀態。在昱佳的各個系列中可以感受到她留意觀察人與人互動時內心的矛盾，以及受到社會牽制而失去自我的狀態。 選擇水墨作為創作媒材在於墨的暈染與擴散很自由：富含傳統文化卻有著奔放的特性。因此這次展出的作品以水墨和壓克力墨水作為主要媒材，並將墨韻特色應用於小人物身上：墨暈染後形成外圍一圈白色的淡墨，昱佳以此特性予以堆疊、變化、並加入淡色的墨點使畫面的空氣具有流動感、也代表小人物騷動的情緒。在當代水墨的創作路上昱佳尤其感謝黃智陽老師給予提點與建議，使她作品更趨於完整與豐富。 昱佳纖細而體貼的個性，無法克制地留意周圍人們的感受與心情，有時為了顧全他人不免感到疲備，但就像George and Mary一樣，對她來說人的互動充滿糾結的美麗，並以敏銳的心性感受、觀察呈現於作品上，昱佳期許「畫作本身不只是感動自己，更要能感動別人」追尋內心的自由、透過創作畫面讓大家都能感同身受內心的小劇場。
